WE NEED YOUR HELP… The Macomb County Cougars is a non-profit 501c (3) youth organization that was founded in 1995. Our mission is to encourage young men to make good decisions utilizing the team sport of basketball to address the areas of education and character building. The Macomb County Cougars Basketball Travel Club is dedicated to helping young men and women develop the necessary skills to achieve their maximum potential academically and athletically. The Cougars offers three programs: Travel and Summer League Basketball, Academic Assistance and Life Skills training.
Our goal is to build character and self-esteem through education and sports at the highest level. Our Program provides the foundation for academic achievement and guidance needed for the college selection process. Our volunteer coaching staff has over 60 combined years of professional athletic, college, and coaching experience. Our volunteer educational staff has over 30 years of elementary, secondary, technical and business degreed experience, that emphasis and stress the importance of a good education as well as to train and condition each student physically and mentally to reinforce good sportsmanship and disciplinary actions.
The Macomb County Cougars organization plan, promote and implement comprehensive activities that aid in the development of the student. We are advocates for academic success and an aggressive style of basketball that emphasizes hard work and personal responsibility. Academic success is a priority for the student athletes that participate in the Cougars program. The team concept is an absolute necessity for our athletes. We teach a style of play that requires tremendous intensity on defense and total unselfishness on offense. We demand that the student athlete be in great mental and physical condition. It is our desire that every player that participates in the Macomb County Cougars program attends college, makes wise decision, and become productive citizens.
Our travel basketball program consists of over 70 young men and women throughout Macomb, Oakland, Wayne County as well as Canada, ages range from 10-18 who are able to travel and compete in NCAA certified tournaments throughout the country that are all looking to garner exposure from college coaches and scouting services,, we have an additional 20-40 boys and girls who play on our league teams that seek development in the fundamentals of the game and mentorship. As we continue to grow and provide a environment of learning through education, mentorship and teaching the proper skills to become effective basketball players, we have accumulated more expenses, in facility use, facility insurance, player insurance, equipment use, tournament fees, uniforms, hotels and transportation cost the list goes on and on…. The average expense per players is approximately $1600.00 for travel and 250.00 for league. With your company’s tax-deductible donation it will allow the Macomb County Cougars to continue to provide these services at a low cost to the youth in our community and the ability to reach even more students who may not have the means to participate at all. We appreciate any type of contribution to our program either monetary, or goods and services.
